  • Have full access to information, services, resources, promising clinical trials, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists and support staff
  • Be encouraged to become active, informed participants in all aspects of your care

In addition, you can rest assured that your primary care physician will remain an important part of your healthcare team during your care with us. Our doctors will work closely with your primary care physician to keep him/her involved and informed.

Improving Outcomes Through Patient-Centered Holistic Care

From the moment we admit you until the day you go home our experts engage in an extraordinary kind of teamwork that we call our multidisciplinary care approach.

Multidisciplinary patient-centered care (combining and coordinating many specialized areas of medicine) might seem like a bunch of buzzwords now, but we adopted this early. You are at the center of a diverse team of specialists and support staff, each with a deep understanding of an essential medical discipline, and each devoted to sharing insights and observations with one another. This approach gets notable results: cancer patients live longer and thrive into survivorship.

We’ve expanded our understanding of cancer beyond just treating and eliminating the cancer.  We call on the best combination of surgeons and oncology specialists — as well as research scientists, physicians assistant, nurses and nurse practitioners, rehabilitation therapists, psychologists, social workers, pain management experts, genetics counselors, nutritionists, among others — that your unique needs require. In turn, they collaborate with your primary care physician to tailor your treatment plan and ensure continuity of care from diagnosis through long-term follow-up.

Rapid Service

During your initial appointment at GOI, we will work to ensure you receive as many tests and consultations necessary in as short a time as possible, sometimes even same-day. We will review your medical history and any test results acquired prior to your appointment at GOI so that we are prepared to offer recommendations based on a thorough assessment of your personal medical history.

Quality of Life

The aim of GOI, since we practice in a high-tech personal touch cancer center, is to ensure that the patient experience it provides is second to none. We encourage patients to take an active role in making decisions about the quality of care they receive, as well as the quality of life they deserve.

At GOI we are committed to putting the patients needs first, and we realize those needs are not limited to just the physical or day-to-day necessities. Our wide range of support services encompasses the mind, body and spirit in an effort to make every experience at the Institute a positive one. These services include an advocacy program, nutrition services, rehabilitation, pain management, psychosocial and pastoral support … everything a patient needs to focus wholly on his or her wellbeing.

Thriving in Survivorship

At the Gynecologic Oncology Institute, we believe that survivorship begins at diagnosis and lasts a lifetime, with uninterrupted access to specialized support. We want to ensure that any early warning signs of recurrence are detected and treated immediately; that all your present and long-term needs — physical, psychosocial, nutritional, spiritual, legal — related to survivorship are met; and that routine preventive and follow-up care is always available to enhance your health, well-being and peace of mind.
